HKT48, known as HaKaTa48, is a Japanese idol group and also AKB48's 3rd sister group. They currently have 44 members who are divided in 3 teams (Team H, KIV and TII) and 5 kenkyuusei. They - as the rest of the sister groups - have their own theater on Nishitetsu Hall in Tenjin, Fukuoka Prefecture. They debuted with Suki! Suki! Skip! which was released on the 20th of March, 2013.

I'm making this mostly for those who might be or are new to 48G's concept and (will) probably be confused by some used terms at some point. I'll try to explain what they are as better as possible to make it easier.
Starting off with 48G's concept. What is it, exacty?
Their concept is "idols you can meet" which consists of fans getting closer to their idol(s). After they finish their performances on their theater they wave to the fans up close before going backstage and there are events organized where fans can shake their hands - handshakes -, high 5 them and even take an exclusive picture with their favorite member.
Other terms
Oshi(s): The member(s) you love or support.
Kami-oshi: The member you love more than your other oshi(s).
Kenkyuusei: They are a group of trainees aspiring to debut in any 48G.
Kennin: They are also called concurrent positions, which is a position where a member of a 48G (and also 46G) becomes a member of two different groups and teams at the same time.
WCenter: Double center.
SSK: Senbatsu Sousenkyo, known as the Senbatsu Election, is an annual event where fans can vote for their favorite 48G members and after the votes are submitted those 80 members who received the most are announced on the day of said election.
